Worldwide, science fairs and mathematics contests have been used to increase learners’ knowledge of scientific inquiry, understanding abstract concepts, enhancing teamwork, analytical skills, communication skills among others. Jaworski (2013) found that participation of learners in science fairs increased their knowledge and interest in science. The study involved learners from sixth through to eighth grades who participated in school sponsored science fair each year.
